Roommat Living ("Roommat", "we", "our", or "us") is a technology platform providing PG accommodation listing, flat-sharing, and roommate-finding services, currently operating in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India.

Our platform connects property owners/PG operators with tenants, students, and working professionals seeking accommodation. This Privacy Policy applies to our website, mobile application, and all related services (collectively, the "Platform").

By using the Roommat Living Platform, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Platform.

02. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Important: Sensitive Data: We only collect identity documents when legally required for verification and handle them with enhanced security measures. We do not store full payment card or bank account numbers on our servers.

03. How We Use Your Information

We use your information for the following purposes:

Platform Services: To create and manage your account, display listings, and facilitate connections between tenants and property owners.

Roommate Matching: To calculate compatibility scores and suggest suitable matches based on preferences you provide.

Communication: To send OTP verification, booking confirmations, platform notifications, and important service updates via email or WhatsApp.

Safety & Verification: To verify identities, prevent fraud, and ensure the safety of our users.

Customer Support: To respond to your queries, complaints, and feedback.

Analytics & Improvement: To understand how our Platform is used and improve its features and performance.

Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable Indian laws, regulations, and court orders.

Marketing: To send you promotional communications about new features or listings only with your consent, and you may opt out at any time.

04. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in the following limited circumstances:

Between Users: When a tenant expresses interest in a property, limited profile information is shared with the property owner (and vice versa) to facilitate communication and viewings.

Service Providers: We use trusted third-party services (such as Supabase for database hosting, Google for authentication, and payment gateways) that process data on our behalf under confidentiality agreements.

Legal Obligations: We may disclose information to law enforcement or government authorities when legally required under Indian law (e.g., IT Act 2000, BNSS/CrPC).

Business Transfer: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred. We will notify you in advance in such cases.

With Your Consent: For any other purpose, only after obtaining your explicit consent.

Third-party services integrated in our Platform (e.g., Google OAuth, WhatsApp messaging) are governed by their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review those policies.

Your data is stored on secure cloud servers (Supabase/PostgreSQL) with Row-Level Security (RLS) enabled, ensuring that users can only access data they are authorized to view.

We implement the following security measures:

Role-based access control for our internal team

Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments

Automatic session expiry and re-authentication prompts

Data Retention: We retain your account data for as long as your account is active or as required by law. You may request deletion at any time (see Your Rights below). Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained indefinitely for analytics.

Right to Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data (subject to legal retention requirements).

Our Platform is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that a user under 18 has provided personal data, we will promptly delete it.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used our Platform, please contact us immediately at privacy@roommat.in.

Our Platform may contain links to third-party websites or services (e.g., maps, payment portals). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We recommend reviewing their privacy policies before sharing any information with them.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we do:
